Round 2, #53: Gervon Dexter, DT, Florida

The Chicago Bears went with the defensive tackle with their first pick of the second round. Poles picked up Gervon Dexter out of Florida.

Dexter takes up a lot of space with his 6-foot-6, 310-pound frame. At the NFL Combine, he posted an impressive 1.81 10-yard split and a 4.88-40. He also scored a 9.53 (out of 10) in the Relative Athletic Score. That ranked him 77th out of 1,623 defensive tackles who were tested since 1987.

Dexter has the tools to be a success. However, he still needs to put everything together. If the coaching staff does its job, Dexter will be a defensive stalwart for years to come. Grade: B

Round 2, #56: Tyrique Stevenson, Miami (FL)

The Chicago Bears have been working to improve the secondary since a disastrous 2019 performance. With the Tyrique Stevenson pick, they have now picked a cornerback in three of the past four drafts.

Poles moved up from 61 to pick Stevenson. He gave up the 135th pick in order to secure him.

Stevenson has the traits that you expect on a Monsters of the Midway defense. At 6 feet and 200 pounds, he has great size. His 4.45-40 allows him to keep up with speedy receivers.

Additionally, Stevenson is a strong, tough corner. He loves to hit and will fight for the ball when it’s in the air. Receivers are in for a long day when they face him. Grade: B+
