No. 1 Worst wide receiver group in the NFL: Tennessee Titans

Pick Analysis. AFC South. Tennessee Titans. 1. player. Scouting Report. . 35

  • Treylon Burks
  • Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
  • Kyle Philips
  • Chris Moore
  • Racey McMath
  • Colton Dowell

The Tennessee Titans not only claim the #1 spot for the worst wide receiver group in the NFL, but they are also the only team on this list that was named last season as the 4th worst.

As stated earlier Robert Woods was the top receiver in Tennessee in 2022 and that is unfortunately not saying much. The Titans’ offense ran through running back Derrick Henry as it normally does. The Titans were fortunate enough to have Henry for every game except one, against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, which they lost.

Without Robert Woods, the Titans’ leading receiver (not tight end) in 2022 would have been rookie Treylon Burks who played in only 11 games and secured one touchdown with 444 receiving yards. With the departure of Woods, the now-sophomore receiver Burks will have to step up significantly in 2023.

The Titans relied heavily on tight ends Chigoziem Okonkwo and Austin Hooper in the passing game, both of which contributed 450 and 444 receiving yards. Hooper is no longer on the team and per this exercise, Okonkwo does not qualify as being in the “receiving room.” Westbrook-Ikhine had his best average yards per completion in 2022 with 15.9 but hauled in only 50% of his targets.

The AJ Brown trade to the Eagles is looking worse every day despite the Titans taking Treylon Burks with the first-round pick they received in exchange. The Titans only had six draft picks in 2023 and elected not to select a wide receiver until the 7th round where they took Colton Dowell from UT Martin. Dowell has the physical characteristics to be a successful receiver but that will be determined once the season actually begins.

The Titans receiving offense is scary, and not in the cool/intimidating sense of the word. The lack of quality depth and the reliance upon an injury-prone second-year receiver makes the Titans the ideal candidate to have the worst receiving corps in the NFL in 2023.

There you have it, the 5 worst wide receiving groups in the NFL leading into the 2023 NFL season. Congratulations if your favorite team made it off the list this year and my apologies if your team claimed a spot on the rankings.
