Justin Jones — The veteran returns

Justin Jones is the veteran of the group. He has experience on his side, understanding what the coaches expect in this defensive system.

In his first season with the Bears, Jones had a career-high 52 tackles and tied his career-high with 3 sacks. However, he was not the consistent disruptor that Chicago expected. He made some nice plays but then disappeared on others.

The Bears did try him on the outside as a defensive end but Jones prefers to stay on the inside. Perhaps he uses last year as a springboard to improve.

It will be an uphill battle for Jones to win the job. He already has a resume and the coaches might not be too impressed. Also, using three draft picks in the same position does not give off vibes that the team really covets you.

However, if Jones takes what he learned from last season and makes more big plays he could hold off the young contenders for at least one season.
