NFL Sophomore #2 Garrett Wilson (WR)

Joe Douglas’ front office had an exceptional 2022 draft. They used capital wisely, investing in high-caliber players to fill holes. New York improved significantly last season but fell short of their goal. Controversy at quarterback hindered progress. Winning games became difficult, but Garrett Wilson was determined to shine.

It only took a week for the Jets’ rookie receiver to adjust to a new speed. In Week 1, Wilson caught four receptions for 52 yards. He doubled his stats the following week, recording 102 yards and two touchdown receptions. At the end of the season, Wilson led rookie receivers in receiving rating (85.9) and yards (1,103). A connection with Aaron Rodgers will aid Wilson in his journey as a professional.

NFL Sophomore #1 Kenneth Walker III (RB)

Geno Smith played a vital role on Pete Carroll’s squad last season. He led his unit through a rigorous schedule. Seattle persevered and performed better than many expected. His leadership impacts the locker room. It berthed confidence to rookies searching for their role. Kenneth Walker III was motivated by his teammate’s resilience and joined the party.

Earning extra yards on the ground was not an issue for Kenneth Walker III last season. He bullied incoming tacklers and tormented defensive coordinators. His 243 rushing attempts were the 13th most in the league. Walker III also ranked 10th in rushing yards (1,113), finishing as the runner-up for Offensive Rookie of The Year Honors. A stout rushing offense will help Seattle clinch seeding in the NFC playoff bracket again. They have weapons in the passing and a rushing attack that are known to see success on the gridiron.

Impressive rookie debuts are fascinating. It displays how dedicated professional athletes are in the off-season. Rookies that produce results give fans a glimpse of the next wave of NFL legends. I expect these players to become a part of that tier with an explosive sophomore season.
