Chicago Bears: 5 Under-the-radar players to watch in training camp
With the Chicago Bears more than a month away from the start of training camp, there are some under-the-radar players who could end up making a big impression when it does start.
The Bears are in a lull right now. They finished their mandatory minicamp and now have nothing to do until camp starts on July 26th. From that moment until January of 2024, it will be all football, all the time.
Once training camp begins the players will be fighting. They’ll be fighting for a starting spot, a backup spot, and even just a roster spot. After a 3-14 season in 2022, there will be a lot of battles to watch. In those battles, some players we might not even have an idea about could make a big impression.
Remember Jack Sanborn last year? He was an undrafted rookie who dominated training camp and preseason games. He earned a spot on the roster. It didn’t stop there, however. His good play carried over into the regular season.
When the Bears traded disgruntled linebacker Roquan Smith Sanborn got his chance to start. He did a good job when the brightest lights were on until an injury ended his season prematurely.
Is there another Sanborn on the roster this year? Of course, there will be certain players who become fan favorites. It happens in every camp. Most of the time, though, they don’t even make the team.
There are some players who are getting ready to play for their careers. Some will crash and burn, while others make a big impression and end up carving a spot on the roster.
Here are some players for the Chicago Bears who could make an impact once training camp begins next month.
