Chicago Bears under-the-radar player no. 2: Equanimeous St. Brown, WR

Some fans were surprised when the Chicago Bears re-signed Equanimeous St. Brown so quickly. In 2022, he only had 21 catches for 323 yards and a touchdown. That doesn’t seem like a lot but that 15.4 yards per catch led the team.

Additionally, St. Brown is a very good and willing blocker. He doesn’t have to be targeted for him to help. However, the wide receivers unit also went through a change. D.J. Moore, one of the top wide receivers in the league, is now in Chicago. Combine him with Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool and the Bears now have a solid receivers group.

With an improved receivers corps, St. Brown could see more targets in 2023. He is already familiar with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy’s system. Both were with the Green Bay Packers.

Furthermore, the defense cannot cover everyone. With the other receivers on the field, St. Brown could find himself open. He will then get an opportunity to make some plays himself.

In Green Bay St. Brown wasn’t the star receiver. However, he made opposing defenses pay for staying away from him. Now he could do the same in Chicago.
