Washington Commanders running backs: No. 2 Antonio Gibson

Antonio Gibson did a good job at the beginning of last season being the primary running back for the Commanders. When Robinson did return, he became the club’s third-down back and pass-catching option out of the backfield.

Once Gibson settled into that role, he performed that role very well. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound back ran for 546 yards on 149 attempts. That’s about 3.7 yards per carry. He also had three touchdowns with only one fumble.

His receiving stats are equally as good. He had a career-high 353 yards on 46 catches. He also averaged career-high 7.7 yards per catch as well. He also came away with two receiving touchdowns.

Gibson still needs to improve as a pass blocker, but overall he’s a very good number-two option on the depth chart. He can step up as a number one option when needed and can be a multiple threat as a running back.
