The Washington Commanders are one of the more volatile teams heading into the 2023 season. They could go in any direction, seeing any extreme.

If the Commanders go out there and win three games, some people wouldn’t be surprised. However, if they end the season with a Super Bowl win, others wouldn’t be shocked. And somewhere in the middle lays a lot of other predictions.

There are some obvious reasons for the unsure nature of what this Washington team could accomplish. They have a talented wide receiver group, but question marks at tight end. Can the running back create a two-headed monster? And there are some serious questions about the offensive line.

Of course, the big question on offense is quarterback Sam Howell. Many love his potential, and rightfully so. However, it can’t be overlooked that he’s a fifth-round quarterback with one career start.

On the other side of the ball, that defensive line should dominate. How will Chase Young play in a season with major implications for his future? What about Montez Sweat? The linebacker corps isn’t exactly a strength, but there are some nice young pieces. And the secondary is going to have to rely on multiple rookies if it wants to take a step forward.

The Commanders have a lot of question marks that could sway their season drastically in different directions. So today, we’re going to look at a realistic best-case scenario, a realistic worst-case scenario, and the most likely scenario.
