Washington Commanders’ 2023 most-likely scenario

It’s a lot of fun to think of the most drastic case scenarios for a football team. But it’s important to stay grounded and get realistic at times. That’s what this final slide is for. What is the most realistic scenario for the Washington Commanders‘ 2023 season?

Sam Howell has his troubles, being a young fifth-round quarterback with one NFL start under his belt. However, he shows a lot of promise, and Washington gets some great performances out of him.

Terry McLaurin continues to be one of the best wide receivers in football and has his best year ever, thanks to steadier QB play and more help around him. Jahan Dotson looks like a legit number two option.

Washington’s running backs create a fun dynamic, but there’s room for improvement. Meanwhile, their tight ends are just okay, and the offensive line will still need to figure a few things out.

The defense is still the strength of this team. Particularly, the defensive line creates havoc in every game. Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne are the best interior line duo in all of football. However, Montez Sweat continues to be an infuriating question. His potential shines through, and he dominates for stretches but disappears in others. The same thing happens with Chase Young.

Washington can’t afford to keep both and doesn’t have a good answer on who to keep.

The linebackers are still an issue, with Jamin Davis being the only one to have potential as a long-term piece on the team.

Kendall Fuller continues to be a hot-and-cold player in the Washington secondary, but he’s a good overall cornerback. The younger defensive backs continue to look impressive, and the rookies give fans some hope.

Tress Way is still a stud.

Washington hovers around the 8-10 win mark and is fighting for a playoff spot at the end of the year. At the very least, they have hope with a young quarterback and pieces around him. Now they need to focus on filling in the holes on the roster.

The Washington Commanders aren’t perfect, but fans have real hope for the first time in a long time.
