NFL Cornerback #4: Jalen Ramsey

A physical cornerback is an offense’s worst nightmare. They enjoy pressing receivers at the line of scrimmage and assisting in defending the run. Their presence makes playcalling difficult, especially when playing from behind. Jalen Ramsey established a reputation in the league by becoming a bully between the numbers. His four interceptions and 17 defensive stops were noteworthy in 2022. He motivates defense units and will elevate Vic Fangio’s squad this season.

A trade with the Los Angeles Rams sent Ramsey to South Beach. General Manager Chris Grier added the six-time Pro-Bowler to the roster in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2023 draft. It was the blockbuster transaction of the off-season and will assist Miami against elite Quarterbacks within the division. Last year, the Dolphins ranked 28th in pass coverage (55.1). Fangio’s unit will improve in the upcoming season, especially with Ramsey in the secondary.

NFL Cornerback #3: Jaire Alexander

Guarding Justin Jefferson brings out the best in defenders. Facing him twice a season forces defensive backs to develop quickly. The Packers rely heavily on their secondary during these divisional matchups. Wins affect playoff seeding and determine who will have an extended season. Jaire Alexander understands this well. He’s performed well against the NFL’s elite, earning respect from his peers.

Creating turnovers became habitual for Green Bay’s lockdown corner last season. Alexander ranked second in interceptions (5) and allowed 572 receiving yards. Offensive coordinators avoid throwing to the No.23 side. His 82.1 coverage rating is the fifth-best among active cornerbacks, marking him as one of the league’s best defenders.
