2023 NFL Season: 10 bold predictions for the new year

No. 2: Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars make the AFC Championship Game

In Doug Pederson’s second season as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, he led his team to a Super Bowl title.  Well, while I won’t go that far for the Jaguars in 2023, who are in their second year with Doug Pederson at the helm, I will predict that they end up in the AFC Championship Game.

Trevor Lawrence is going to get MVP votes this year, and the insertion of Calvin Ridley into an already efficient offense is going to help in a massive way.  Pederson is a very good head coach who turned this franchise around in 2022.  Don’t be surprised when this team makes a very deep playoff run.

No. 3: Cincinnati Bengals make the Super Bowl

I guess it’s not a super bold prediction, but the Chiefs have been in the Super Bowl in three of the last four seasons, so most of us are probably expecting them to make it back once again.  However, the Bengals will have something to say about that.  Joe Burrow is probably the only QB in the NFL currently who can go toe to toe with Patrick Mahomes.

He’s done in before in the regular season and the playoffs.  He’ll do it again in 2023.  Burrow might be this generation’s Peyton Manning, and Manning got his chances a few times during his career.  I think 2023 could be that year for Burrow and the Bengals.
