2023 NFL Season: 10 bold predictions for the new year

No. 6: Detroit Lions win the NFC North

The Detroit Lions showed some serious guts in 2022 after a horrid start.  They finished the year 9-8 and boasted one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL.  Their main issue was on defense, especially in the secondary, and man, did they improve in that unit or what?

They added all of Brian Branch, CJ Gardner-Johnson, Cam Sutton, and Emmanuel Moseley.  This secondary looks to be pretty settled on paper, and I don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest that their defensive front can take a step forward.

The Lions in the 2023 NFL season are not the Lions of old.

No. 7: Carolina Panthers win the NFC South

I think there is one team in the NFL who have made precisely zero mistakes in the 2023 NFL season thus far, and that team is the Carolina Panthers.  Between their coaching, draft, and free agency moves, this is a team that can not only win now, but is well-equipped for the future.  Bryce Young is going to play well in the offense during his rookie season.

He’ll manage the game for the team, and a stout defense, led by Ejiro Evero, is going to be able to close out games.  This is going to be a well-coached, efficient football team in 2023 that wins their division and earns a home playoff spot.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
