2026 NFL Draft: Broncos' latest top-30 visit could indicate major draft shakeup

Could the Denver Broncos be up to something?

The Denver Broncos came within one game of the Super Bowl in the 2025 NFL Season, and if it wasn't for Bo NIx breaking his ankle in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos may very well had won it all.

This could be a huge 'what if' for the franchise if the team fails to win the big game in the Nix era, but it's clear that this front office is trying to make that push. After a quiet start to free agency earlier this offseason, the Broncos swung a major trade for former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

It was a huge move to give Nix another weapon, a legitimate no. 1 target, and someone whose skillset fits right in with the incumbent group of Broncos' receivers. You really couldn't find a better trade target for the Broncos than Waddle. As of now, the Broncos have the 62nd overall pick as their first selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, but their latest top-30 visit could indicate that a major move could be on the horizon.

The Denver Broncos completed a top-30 visit with a first-round prospect, however...

The Broncos have completed a visit with Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon, and as Luca Evans notes, Pregnon is widely considered to be a first or early second-round pick. The Broncos, though, figure to be out of range for that, right?

Well, maybe not. Pregnon is 24 years old, so he is going to be an older rookie. However, Pregnon does bring a ton of collegiate experience, having stops at Wyoming, USC, and Oregon. With 53 games of experience, he is someone who can step right in and start for many teams.

The Broncos have also put a huge emphasis on the offensive line in the Sean Payton era, and as of now, they are projected to return the same starting five for the third year in a row, and four of five for the fourth year in a row, which is unheard of chemistry.

Pregnon is from Denver as well and is a guard who excels as a run blocker, and the run game has been a shaky aspect of the offense for the Broncos. The team's offensive line has been among the most elite in the league in pass protection, and part of that is Nix not taking many sacks, but run blocking has been the weaker point for this team.

The Broncos bringing in Pregnon for a top-30 visit could indicate some level of interest in the guard, but the team might have to trade up nearly 20 spots to land him. However, given his high-floor profile and immediate run blocking 'plus,' Denver might have an eye on him.

And this would fall in line with the team continuing to invest into the offensive line. As of right now, all five current starters are on a big-time contract. Denver could be planning for the future and could make a major move for Pregnon in the 2026 NFL Draft.
