New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans, 1:00 PM ET
Well, this isn't exactly a game that strikes you as being must-see TV. While both New York and Tennessee are largely projected to be losing teams this year, one of them is going to come out with a 1-0 start.
The Jets hired former Lions' defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, as their head coach last year, and to be frank, Glenn looked to be in way over his head, and I believe that could be putting it lightly. Heading into 2026, the Jets do have a much-improved roster, so, in theory, Glenn should be able to take some strides as a head coach, and the front office should now be able to more fairly assess whether Glenn is the long-term option for this team.
The offense does sport a ton of young talent, and newly-arrived Geno Smith could, if nothing else, play average football, which is something the Jets' QBs were not able to do last year.
The Titans could be a fun team this year, as Cam Ward carved out an encouraging rookie season, as he got a lot better as the season went on, and he now has a veteran, reliable offensive mind in his corner in Brian Daboll. Wan'Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate also join the mix on offense to aid in Ward's development.
While the Titans are the better long-term play here in 2026, I would actually be more inclined to pick the Jets, as they probably have the better QB in this one and do have more talent overall, so while this team is in Tennessee, and while the Titans do have a more clear QB situation for the long-term, the Jets end up winning this game and starting out the year on the right foot, which is something thi team also has not done in quite some time.
Prediction: New York wins 20-17
