Atlanta Falcons @ Pittsburgh Steelers, 1:00 PM ET
I am not sure how likely it truly is that we see some blowouts in Week 1, but if there is a blowout, it could come in Pittsburgh, as the Steelers host the lowly Atlanta Falcons. When Tua Tagovailoa first signed with the Falcons, I was encouraged, as Tagovailoa does have a history, albeit a small stretch, of being a prolific QB, and he does have a winning season each year of his career but one, which is absolutely notable.
With that said, Tagovailoa just hasn't done nearly enough to truly win the starting job, and it's not clear who the Falcons plan on naming the starter as I type out these words. With us being just two days away from the regular season, that unfortunate fact is a major issue, and it's also a shame, as the Falcons have playoff-caliber talent on offense.
And it's not like the Steelers are this juggernaut of a team. Their QB is entering his age-43 season and was average, at best, last year. The Steelers' overall roster talent is honestly on par with the Falcons', so if Atlanta was able to bring in an average QB in Week 1, we'd be having a different conversation.
But that isn't the case, and playing in Acrisure Stadium is quite a task, so while the Steelers have no chance of being a juggernaut this year and making a deep playoff run, it'd be a major shock if they didn't take care of business at home.
The Falcons might struggle to win five games this year if the QB situation doesn't at least get to a slightly-below-average level early on in the 2026 season. Give me the Steelers by two scores in a blowout victory.
Prediction: Pittsburgh wins 23-10
