Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers, 4:05 PM ET
While Arizona beating the Chargers in Week 1 was a fun honeymoon period, it’s probably over, as the team lost in blowout fashion to Seattle in Week 2 and likely have another blowout loss coming in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers, who are off a 2-0 start and have a pair of blowout wins themselves.
We all know the story with the Cardinals at this point. They’re in a rebuild and don’t have a franchise QB on the roster. If this team fails to win many more games this year, they should be in solid position to pick high in the 2027 NFL Draft, and it would likely be for a rookie QB prospect.
While Jacoby Brissett is a fine backup, that’s all he is. He’d be a perfect high-end backup option for contenders, but any team that starts him for a longer period of time is playing the wrong game.
The 49ers have been exceptional so far, but as long as this team remains among the most injured in the NFL, they’ll fail to reach that summit. When they’re healthy, they’re a top-5 team in the sport.
They’ve been to the Super Bowl two times in the Kyle Shanahan era and have the ability to get there this year despite the NFC West being quite deep. The 49ers should get off to a perfect 3-0 start with a predicted blowout win over the Cardinals in Week 3.
As for the Cardinals, you almost wonder if we'll get to a point with this team where they begin fielding trade calls for certain aging veterans who aren't going to be a long-term piece of this puzzle. The offensive talent is there, but there could be some roster movement coming in the near-ish future.
