Washington Commanders (0-1) @ Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

Sunday, September 20, 4:25 PM ET

If the two Los Angeles teams were the most disappointing teams in Week 1 of the season, then the Dallas Cowboys are getting a bronze medal.

Maybe it's just the fact that this team had another clean slate to start the season, but I was genuinely optimistic that new defensive coordinator Christian Parker -- along with all of the new personnel on defense for Dallas -- could help turn things around for the Cowboys on that side of the ball.

They were embarrassed on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants, who simply had their way with the Dallas defense all throughout the game.

This matchup includes arguably the two worst defenses in the league from last season, and the Commanders struggled once again giving up big plays in Week 1 against the Eagles. Despite the fact that Philadelphia only had 10 total first downs offensively in Week 1, the Commanders still gave up 24 points and lost.

At least the fan base walked away from that loss with something, because rookie Sonny Styles showed off his playmaking ability attacking the line of scrimmage for a couple of big plays in his NFL debut.

This particular matchup is the only game with an initial over/under set over 50 points (50.5). Of course, both the Commanders and Cowboys have the potential for a lot of offensive fireworks, but neither defense has proven enough after one game to inspire any sort of confidence just yet.

With the Cowboys making their debut at home, I'm expecting that offense to be nearly flawless, which was the case for most of the 2025 season when they played at home as well. They're opening as 3.5-point favorites, but this is one of those games I could see being close for 3.5 quarters and one team pulling away to win by double digits late.

Prediction: Cowboys win 34-24
