When the Colts and Chiefs met during the 2025 season, it turned out to be a fateful afternoon for the Colts that sent the team in a downward spiral for the rest of the year.
The Colts lost to the Chiefs 23-20 in overtime, and couldn't recover the rest of the season. They lost every game after their bye week, missing the playoffs after starting the season 8-2 and looking like a dominant force on the offensive side of the ball.
Now, the Colts are going to hope that a trip to Kansas City in the second week of the season can be the start of something, instead of the beginning of the end. The Colts had the brakes beaten off in their Week 1 matchup at home against the Baltimore Ravens.
They allowed the Ravens to rack up over 500 yards of offense, and were only able to put up 251 yards of offense themselves. One of the most surprising developments from the first week of the season was the Colts' inability to really get Tyler Warren going.
Yes, Warren scored a touchdown in the first game of the season, but they are anticipating much more of a role for him than 3 catches for 13 yards on 5 targets. If the Colts are going to go to Kansas City and beat the Chiefs, they're going to need to get Warren going.
This Chiefs team is going to want to continue establishing itself on the ground this season. The way Kenneth Walker absolutely dominated in his debut with Kansas City was a sight to behold. He was borderline unstoppable, and the Chiefs are going to continue riding his hot hand.
The Chiefs are opening up as pretty substantial 6.5-point favorites at home against the Colts, and it feels like they're going to be too much for the Colts in prime time.
Prediction: Chiefs win 34-21
