As we get into the late window of Week 4 matchups, you really start to peel back the layers of this week of action and see just how special of a week NFL fans are being treated to in terms of matchups.
Since Week 1 of the season, there probably hasn’t been a more impressive individual team than the San Francisco 49ers. They absolutely dominated the Rams in Week 1, they bullied the Dolphins in Week 2, and they took care of business against the Cardinals in Week 3.
You want balance? The 49ers have it. They are the #2 scoring offense so far this season in the league, and the #3 scoring defense. They rank #1 in the NFL in 3rd down offense and #1 in red zone offense. Everything is going pretty much according to plan for the 49ers, save for the injury department. That has continued to be an issue for them, but you would barely know they’re dealing with anything given the way they’ve dominated three straight games.
The Denver Broncos are on the opposite end of the spectrum. They have been anything but efficient or balanced on the offensive side of the ball. In fact, they’ve really been a mess on that side of the ball at times.
But after getting blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, the Broncos have refocused and come from behind for wins against both the Jaguars and Rams. It’s the first time in their franchise history that they’ve won back-to-back games when trailing by 10 or more points at halftime.
The Broncos are, once again, one of the most resilient teams in the NFL. Will they be able to find some level of consistency offensively against an ailing 49ers team?
The oddsmakers only have the 49ers as 3-point favorites at home. It’s going to be fun to see how that Denver defense plays on the road against such a formidable opponent, and whether or not the Broncos’ offense will be able to get anything going consistently on the road.
This is another one that feels like a true toss-up.
