In a best-case scenario, NFL fans are going to be treated to an absolute shootout on Sunday Night Football.
The Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers have had two of the sorriest defenses in the NFL so far this season, even if we saw the Panthers’ defense come to life when they picked on Cooper Rush and Jack Strand in Week 2.
The Panthers gave up 59 points to the Bears in Week 1, and their season averages have yet to recover, even giving up just 3 points against Atlanta. They are still averaging 27.7 points per game allowed this season, but the good news for them is, the Lions are worse…
Detroit ranks 32nd in the NFL so far this season, allowing 31.7 points per game. They are averaging nearly 300 yards passing allowed per game so far this season.
In case you didn’t know, here’s a fun factoid: Bryce Young leads the NFL in passing so far this season.
What we have here is a classic combination of factors getting ready to collide in front of a national audience. Two of the worst defenses in the league getting set to face off against two of the best passing attacks and most explosive offenses in teh NFL right now.
The only game on the schedule in Week 4 with a higher projected over/under of total points than this game (50.5) is the Bengals and Jaguars matchup with all of the firepower on those two rosters.
Again, the best-case scenario for football fans is that these two offenses absolutely show out, and put on a show for all of us. And that’s exactly what I’m expecting to see. In a shootout, do you take the Lions and their more proven crew, or do you take the clutch Bryce Young and his 12 career game-winning drives?
