The Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts are heading across the Atlantic for a matchup after each team got on the board just as the first month of the season came to a close.
Let’s talk about the Washington Commanders first, because they might be coming off the most shocking win of the entire week.
Playing their first game without Jayden Daniels this season, the Commanders found themselves in familiar territory. We’ve seen plenty of Marcus Mariota over the past couple of years, and he’s proven to be a highly effective backup who is capable of at least a couple of outrageous performances each year.
The Commanders desperately needed his best as they were playing host to the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, and they got it.
Mariota threw three touchdown passes in his starting debut, and the Commanders were able to make just enough plays to hold off Seattle in a momentum-building win.
Now, they’re going to have to keep it going against a non-conference opponent – the Indianapolis Colts – also coming off an impressive and emotional victory.
The Colts suffered a pretty heartbreaking loss on the road in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but they played them tough. They came into Week 3 needing to get on the board with one of the toughest defenses (Houston) in the NFL coming to town. And in that type of game, the Colts simply had to endure and outlast Houston, which is exactly what they did.
They’re modest 3-point favorites against the Commanders, but this feels like a game Jonathan Taylor could absolutely take over.
Prediction: Colts win 28-20
