New York Jets (1-2) @ Chicago Bears (2-1)
Sunday, October 4, 1:00 PM ET
The question with the Chicago Bears on a short week – even playing at home – is whether or not they caught lightning in a bottle with Case Keenum against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
To be fair, it was a rather convincing victory for the Bears against Philly, and Keenum operated the offense exceptionally well. That Ben Johnson guy knows what he’s doing.
Oh, hey – speaking of Ben Johnson. How about a little battle between former Detroit Lions assistants in this game?
Johnson and the Bears look like one of the best offenses in the NFL, and the only exception so far this season was a weather-impacted game against the Brian Flores-led Vikings defense in Week 2.
All things considered, this Bears team is one of the best teams in the NFL at running the football, and the way Johnson is dialing things up offensively, it’s going to be a brutal test no matter who is playing quarterback against the Jets.
Don’t underestimate the Jets, however.
Geno Smith threw for 335 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Detroit Lions, and they simply couldn’t outscore Detroit. Both Garrett Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq had over 100 yards receiving in Week 3, and the Jets have looked like a much better overall team in the first three weeks of this season than pretty much any other stretch during Aaron Glenn’s time with the team.
I have a feeling this one is going to come down to time of possession and running the ball, which favors the Bears, especially at home.
Prediction: Bears win 24-20
