Dallas Cowboys (2-3) @ Green Bay Packers (3-2)
Sunday, October 18, 8:20 PM ET
There was some hope when the NFL schedule released that this might mark the return of star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who would get the chance to face off against his former team.
Alas, we’ll have to settle for a battle between two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and quite possibly the shootout of the week in the NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off an incredibly disappointing loss at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As that Dallas defense tries to finally get on track under DC Christian Parker, they couldn’t put the clamps on Bucky Irving, Jalon Daniels, and the Buccaneers on a short week.
Parker’s seat keeps getting hotter and hotter.
Since the Micah Parsons trade, the Cowboys have seemingly not stopped tinkering with their roster on that side of the ball. They recently swung a trade for Joey Porter Jr., and he’s going to have to step up in a big way against a Packers offense that just had two receivers (Christian Watson, Matthew Golden) rack up over 100 yards against the Bears.
Not to mention, the Packers have a dynamic weapon at tight end in Tucker Kraft.
The Cowboys are going to have their hands full, but so will the Packers’ defense. Even though Dallas lost on Thursday, Dak Prescott had a couple of perfect throws just flat-out dropped by tight end Jake Ferguson that could have altered the outcome of the game.
The oddsmakers in Vegas are clearly expecting this one to be a classic battle between great QBs, because the Packers are just 1.5-point favorites at home and the over/under has been set at 52.5.
I like the Packers at home in a bit of a back-and-forth game with a lot of offensive fireworks.
Prediction: Packers win 34-31
