Chicago Bears (3-2) @ Atlanta Falcons (2-3)
Sunday, October 18, 1:00 PM ET
As of the time we’re writing this post, we have no idea who is going to be playing quarterback for either the Chicago Bears or the Atlanta Falcons.
Good times.
We know that both of these teams can run the football, and we know that both of these defenses can force takeaways. In a matchup like this, you would love to be able to lean on one particular advantage for either team, but even that is a bit of an issue we’re running into.
The Falcons are playing at home and have superstars at the offensive skill positions. The Bears have the advantage in the coaching department with Ben Johnson scheming things up.
At this point, the Bears are 3-point favorites on the road, and that feels about right. There are just too many hypotheticals for this particular game, so we might have to revisit this prediction when there is more information available.
Let’s be optimistic and assume that both Caleb Williams and Michael Penix Jr. are playing. If that ends up being the case, then I’m pretty comfortably taking the Chicago Bears on the road. We have seen just how dynamic the Bears’ offense can be when Williams is out there, and the fact that he was “questionable” late in the week before Week 5 is indicative of the fact that he’s likely coming back soon.
For now, we’ll keep the score prediction conservative, but if Williams is back, I’m taking Chicago in what could be a shootout.
Prediction: Bears win 31-27
