Indianapolis Colts (2-5) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)
Sunday, November 1, 1:00 PM ET
Sorry, Colts fans…
This isn’t going to be the most positive update we’ve ever given on the Colts, or the most positive preview of one of their games we’ve ever done.
You’ve been warned…
The Colts are the sadsacks of the NFL right now. This is a team that had expectations from ownership to win this season, and they’re not doing it. There were immediate and justified consequences, with general manager Chris Ballard getting canned, and Shane Steichen coaching for his job.
The Colts blew it late against the Minnesota Vikings after at least an inspired defensive effort, but it just feels like this team is on the cusp of a total rebuild. This game could seal it.
The NFL trade deadline is on November 10, and one more loss would put the Colts at 2-6 on the season. It just so happens that the Jaguars are coming off a loss in their most recent game as well as their bye week.
They are going to be well-rested and motivated to remind everyone that they are one of the best teams in the AFC this season.
This is just not a good matchup for the Colts at all, even though there is the familiarity of a divisional opponent to factor in. The Jaguars are understandably pretty hefty 7.5-point favorites at home this week, and they could give themselves the satisfaction of being the team that put the final nail in the proverbial coffin before the Colts have a bit of a fire sale ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
Prediction: Jaguars win 34-17
