No. Just no.

3. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Rams

Speaking of the Chiefs, if they were to make the Super Bowl this year, this is how the AFC representative would look since the 'start' of the Chiefs' dynasty:

2019: Chiefs
2020: Chiefs
2021: Bengals
2022: Chiefs
2023: Chiefs
2024: Chiefs
2025: Patriots
*2026: Chiefs

It could potentially be six Chiefs Super Bowl appearances in eight seasons. Fortunately, the Chiefs appear to be another solid year or two away from actually emerging as a Super Bowl contender, so there could be some newer AFC teams representing the conference. The Chiefs and Rams are regulars atop the NFL, but neither team has played each other in the Super Bowl despite being juggernauts, whether in present day or very recently.

2. Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers

Super Bowl LIV was 2019's, featuring the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The two teams would meet each other four seasons later during the 2023 season, with the same outcome resulting. The Chiefs and 49ers have simply figured out how to get past their conferences and into the Super Bowl.

Since the start of the Kyle Shanahan era, the 49ers' head coach, the Niners are 9-5 in the postseason and have won two playoff games in four separate seasons, obviously winning the NFC twice. Shanahan actually has a higher playoff winning percentage than regular season winning percentage, which is something.

While the 49ers have an outside shot at the big game this year, as we recently said, the Chiefs still seem to be another year or so away from emerging as a contender...

1. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

With that said, the one matchup I believe would be the least desired would be the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, which happened in the 2022 and 2024 seasons. The Chiefs won in 2022, but the Eagles responded with a blowout victory in the 2024 season when the Chiefs were going for a three-peat.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has made the playoffs all five years of his head coaching career, but he's gone one-and-done in the playoffs in 2021, 2023, and 2025. In the even-numbered years, the Eagles have made it to the Super Bowl.

Perhaps that bodes well for their chances in 2026! While this is a possible Super Bowl matchup until it isn't, both Kansas City and Philly do have notable roster concerns that could prevent them from making this deep of a run.

Teams that have come close or close-ish in recent memory like the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens could be solid watches for the Super Bowl, as it would be a lot different, and sometimes, different is great.
