No, Colston Loveland is not about to break the career receptions by a tight end record in his sophomore year. The man he took the starting job from last season, Cole Kmet, has a good opportunity at it, though. Kmet needs 29 catches to break that benchmark in Chicago, and has had that many, or more, receptions in all but his rookie season with the Bears, giving him a fair shot at the career record with the team.
Detroit Lions - career receiving touchdowns by a running back
There was a time when the Detroit Lions were ridiculed for selecting Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The times have certainly changed since then. Gibbs has become a fan and team darling.
Not only that, but in his fourth season with Detroit, he could break the career touchdown record for a running back for the team. Gibbs needs five such scores to sit atop that list in the lore of the Lions. A fascinating note is that the running back has increased his receiving touchdown total each year of his career; considering he had five in 2025, history would dictate that he sets the record this year.
Green Bay Packers - single-season receptions by a tight end
Tucker Kraft was on pace to set the single-season receptions by a tight end record for the Green Bay Packers before his injury last season. Unfortunately, ailments, especially those of the season-ending variety, are things that happen in football. This year is a new year, and as long as he can come back in that form and stay healthy, the record 61 receptions at his position has a really good chance of being broken.
Minnesota Vikings - single-season receptions
This is purely a vibes pick. Justin Jefferson had the worst statistical year of his career in 2025, and he had a season (2023 to be exact) in which he only appeared in 10 games. It seems safe to say Jefferson wants to rebound.
With a quarterback competition being resolved, and the veteran Kyler Murray bringing home the starting job, the wide receiver has a good passer once more. The only question here is: with the ingredients to have a wonderful season in Minnesota, is it considered breaking a record if it is already yours? Considering it is a different season, and a different mark to beat, 128 receptions, Jefferson feels like a valid option here.
