Kirk Cousins, Las Vegas Raiders
Kirk Cousins signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason as a clear short-term solution, as the Raiders went and snagged Fernando Mendoza in the 2026 NFL Draft, and while we've largely been led to believe that Cousins is the unquestioned starter, at some point, the coaches are going to want to see what they have in the rookie.
While the Raiders aren't going to win many games this year and are clearly building for 2027, what's the harm in throwing Mendoza out there for a few starts for some experience? Cousins is who he is at this point - he'll probably have a passer rating in the mid-upper 80s and throw about double the amount of touchdowns as interceptions.
Mendoza's potential ceiling and him being a first overall pick should get him on the field this year.
Geno Smith, New York Jets
Geno Smith is now on his third team in as many seasons and has thrown 32 interceptions over the past two seasons. Simply put, Smith has played bad football and with the Jets having rookie Cade Klubnik in the room, the coaches may want to see if Klubnik can give them anything.
Smith is going to be aggressive and push the ball down the field, but he's going to throw interceptions and just hasn't played good football since that 2022 breakout season with Seattle.
Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals might go down as one of the worst NFL teams of the 21st century, and I am not sure that's at all an exaggeration. The Cardinals also have a rookie QB in Carson Beck on the roster, and it simply would not hurt to see what they have in Beck at some point. This team may struggle to hit three wins this year, so keeping Jacoby Brissett as the starter for all 17 games just doesn't make a ton of sense.
Brissett is also nothing special at the position and could absolutely hit some struggles, warranting a QB change.
