With the roster cutdown deadline now gone, all 32 teams have officially narrowed their roster down to 53 players. The next major thing to happen is that teams will now begin to round-out their practice squads and perhaps make some other active roster moves if they have second thoughts here and there.
There are some teams that have kept the 'standard' amount of players at certain positions. For example, teams typically keep five or six wide receivers on their roster, or four inside linebackers. There isn't an 'official' number for some of these positions, but here and there, you'll see teams load up a bit too much in certain spots.
And as of now, there are four teams in the league that have decided to keep four quarterbacks on the active roster, and when you look at these teams, it's clear that quantity does not mean quantity.
All four teams that kept four QBs on the roster have one glaring issue
The Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers have all rostered four quarterbacks right now:

What stands out, though? Well, it's quite clear that all four teams also have a long-term unknown at the position. The Eagles don't have a special QB in Jalen Hurts; he's a limited passer who has never thrown for at least 25 touchdown passes or 4,000 yards in a season, and now that he is without AJ Brown, we could truly see his weaknesses as a passer being exposed this season.
The Falcons might have the worst QB room in the league, as Tua Tagovailoa largely had a rough offseaon, and Michael Penix Jr is barely healthy enough to play and hasn't necessarily been that special since entering the league in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Vikings clearly whiffed on JJ McCarthy and are hoping that Kyler Murray can bring them some sort of stability, but he was cut this offseason by the Arizona Cardinals for a reason. The Steelers are getting one more year from Aaron Rodgers, but neither Will Howard nor Drew Allar are at all a guarantee to be the long-term solution, and Mason Rudolph is an average backup.
Despite carrying more QBs than you typically see, all four teams have major issues at the position, especially for the long-term. Sure, you can be 'high' on someone like Murray, for example, who does have a decent group of playmakers around him, perhaps the best he's had in his career, but beyond 2026, it's a massive unknown.
These four teams, to be blunt, are also showing us what not to do at the most important position in sports, as their rooms are now a bit overcrowded with no clear succession plan in sight.
