Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have a more aggressive need to upgrade the running back room. The team just put second-year runner RJ Harvey on IR with a knee injury, so he's now not eligible to come back until December.

The team re-signed J.K. Dobbins this offseason, but he's averaging just 3.4 yards per carry, and while Jonah Coleman has looked awesome in limited work this year, he's only see notable work in two games and has already missed four, so I am not sure it's wise to fully trust Coleman with the RB1 role in a Super Bowl window.

The Broncos sit at 5-2 entering Week 8 despite having one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this year. The team boasts insane talent all over the place and are seeing the defense play better in recent weeks. Given the inconsistencies at the RB position, adding someone like Taylor or Pollard makes all the sense in the world and could finally give the Bo Nix era a legitimate, good, NFL-caliber run game. If you take out Nix's 62-yard touchdown run in Week 7 against Arizona, the Broncos would have just 602 yards through seven games, which comes out to just 86 yards per game.

And even with that long touchdown run factored in, the Broncos average just 94.9 yards on the ground per game, Denver has actually never averaged at least 120 rushing yards per game in the Nix era, as they were under that mark in both 2024 and 2025.

We did see the team get aggressive for Jaylen Waddle this offseason, so we know the front office has this type of move in them, and with Nix slowly nearing the end of his rookie deal, the Broncos time to strike has to be now.

Given how loaded the AFC also is, I don't see a reason why the Broncos should not make a move. Giving Nix a consistent run game, like many of the other top QBs in the conference have, would do wonders for this offense.
