Indianapolis Colts

We all know the story with the Indianapolis Colts at this point. It truly seems like it's only a matter of time before this team trades Taylor. They traded a better player in Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks in a very shocking move. It really felt like the Colts probably would have gotten more for Nelson had they waited a bit, but that move is done and finalized.

I guess with the Nelson trade, him being a free agent at the end of the year limited what the Colts could get, and if the Seahawks have plans to extend him, he'll likely cost near the top of the market, so that could have also limited what Indianapolis could have gotten.

Anyway, the Colts might not be done, either. Taylor could be on the move, and we did also see them trade DeForest Buckner back to the San Francisco 49ers. Wide receiver Josh Downs could be another name on the move, and simply ripping it down to the studs is what this team needs to do, as former General Manager Chris Ballard was probably on the job two years too long - the roster just does not have much direction, and the Colts did part with a pair of first-round picks last year to acquire Sauce Gardner.

The one way to properly engage in a rebuild and do it the right way is by acquiring draft picks and eventually hitting on those picks. That's much easier said than done, but the Colts can at least get picks back with the deadline.

No matter who comes in at GM, whether Ed Dodds gets that role, or it's someone else, having a war chest of draft picks thanks to a trade deadline firesale does put Indy in a great spot to kickstart a rebuild the correct way.
