Browns vs Jaguars - shockingly close
Based on where each team ended last season, the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars should be a blowout, but that is a surface-level view of things. The Browns added a lot of players to the team with chips on their shoulders, helping to contribute to that gritty identity that it has; meanwhile, the Jaguars felt like they lost more quality players than gained this offseason. With that in mind, the Browns could be a hard out, especially early in the 2026 season, and, while the Jaguars should still win, this game could be a lot closer than it has any right to be.
Buccaneers vs Bengals - shootout
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals added a lot of talent to the defensive side of the ball since the end of the 2025 season. That said, there is no telling how either unit will gel together, especially in Week 1 of the season against the high-powered offenses that both teams possess. As that is the case, and with all of the defensive additions acknowledged, this game feels like it has all the makings to be the shootout of the week.
Jets vs Titans - defensive struggle
From a high-scoring slugfest to what might be the biggest defensive battle of the week. Yes, the New York Jets’ starting offense looked good in its limited preseason action. However, Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is seeking revenge, which is a superlative that would go perfectly in this game as well, is known for making offenses earn everything.
On the other side of the ball, the Titans starting offensive unit did not look so good in the, comparatively, extended preseason action that it had. Rough news for that side of the ball as the Jets’ head coach, Aaron Glenn, is a defensive-minded leader. With a pair of like-minded sideline leaders who specialize in defense, the game between the Titans and Jets could be one of the lowest scoring outputs in a game that the league sees all season.
