Packers vs Vikings - most intriguing
The Green Bay Packers squaring off against its division rival, the Minnesota Vikings, comes with a lot of intrigue for both teams. The Packers are going into this game without starting running back Josh Jacobs for an indeterminate amount of time after he was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list on roster cut-down day. The offense in Green Bay, no pun intended, has run through Jacobs since he came to the team; with the running back out, there are questions about who will assume the lead back role and if quarterback Jordan Love can shoulder more responsibility in moving the offense with a hampered running attack.
On the Vikings side, the question is simpler. Is Kyler Murray going to be the quarterback who can take Minnesota on a playoff run and lead this team into the future? Head coach Kevin O’Connell is known for getting the best out of his signal-caller, and there is no reason to believe Murray will be any different than Sam Darnold or Kirk Cousins under the quarterback whisperer of a coach.
Whether or not Murray will deliver is yet to be seen, as he had limited preseason snaps with the starting offensive unit, but there is hope. Another big factor is how the Green Bay defense will handle being without its best player, Micah Parsons, to begin the season, and who will step up in his place as a top pass rusher for the Packers. With so many question marks in one game, this one feels like the most intriguing game of the week.
Dolphins vs Raiders - unknown
From intriguing to unknown, we jump into a discussion on the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders matchup. The Raiders are lacking viable pass catchers behind the third-year tight end Brock Bowers, but the Miami Dolphins have a severely lackluster defense. Conversely, the Dolphins have an offense of guys who are trying to make a name for themselves, but have not been granted an opportunity until arriving in Miami; a lot about this game, on both sides of the ball, is unknown.
