Los Angeles Chargers: 9
Given the expectations that many of us had for the Los Angeles Chargers, a 2-0 start felt likely, as they opened up the season against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders at home. Somehow, not only did the Chargers lose both games, but the final score was 26-14 in each contest.
The team has looked horrific thus far, and nothing short of it. The players are poorly-coached and honestly not good enough, and the team is now set to go on an absolute gauntlet of games where it's not clear where the first win comes from:
Week 3 @ Buffalo Bills
Week 4 @ Seattle Seahawks
Week 5 vs. Denver Broncos
Week 6 @ Kansas City Chiefs
Week 8 @ Los Angeles Rams
Week 9 vs. Houston Texans
Week 10 @ Baltimore Ravens
I ask this seriously - where is the first win coming from? At best, the Chargers might be 3-6 or 2-7 through the first nine games, as the roster is probably not nearly as good as many thought, and the injuries are beginning to mount.
It is panic time for the Bolts, as this soft start to the season could have at least given their record some cushion before this stretch. All of the teams the Chargers have coming up have all recently won double-digit games and made the playoffs.
The one thing that could end up going in their favor is if Justin Herbert begins to elevate his game, and the steady coaching presence of Jim Harbaugh starts to pay off. The Chargers have won 22 regular season games across Harbaugh's first two seasons, so there does appear to be a 'high floor' level that he brings to the franchise.
But with this horrendous start and how much tougher the schedule gets, it is panic time in Los Angeles.
