Jonathan Taylor to the Denver Broncos for a pair of NFL Draft picks
The Denver Broncos seem to have some level of interest in Jonathan Taylor, so why not make the move?
The Broncos have not been able to run the ball that well this year, as they rank as the 26th unit in the NFL in yards per game with 92.6. Despite having a trio of capable runners in Jonah Coleman, RJ Harvey, and J.K. Dobbins, the unit as a whole has been anything but capable.
Dobbins is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry, Harvey is on IR and is not an efficient runner between the tackles, and Coleman has already missed four games and is just a rookie, so there is no guarantee that he'll be able to shoulder those RB1 duties.
With the Broncos being right in the middle of a Super Bowl window, you struggle to see why this team should not make the move - many of the top teams in the AFC right now like Buffalo and Kansas City have top-notch running backs.
We have seen a revival of the run game in the NFL the last half-decade-ish, and while the Broncos did have the right idea in acquiring a lot of potentially capable players, it hasn't worked out. The Broncos need a de-facto RB1 - someone who can shoulder the load for 15 carries per game. Taylor is one of the best pure runners of this generation and could surely be a part of the Indianapolis Colts' likely fire-sale, as they have already traded guard Quenton Nelson and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.
Taylor is a running back, so his prime years are absolutely going to behind him by the time the Colts can hope to be a viable team again. Denver could realistically make a very rich offer and one that the Colts can't say no to.
