George Pickens to the Kansas City Chiefs for two 2027 NFL Draft picks
George Pickens doesn't seem to be available at the moment, but we're shooting for the stars, here. The Kansas City Chiefs have continued to get flat-out uninspiring play from their wide receivers this year. Neither Rashee Rice nor Xavier Worthy are good enough to be in the roles they are in, and most of this blame should fall on the shoulders of General Manager Brett Veach, who does not have a very strong NFL Draft history.
Given that the Chiefs are 5-2 and clearly still in the mix, the argument for Veach to get aggressive and trade draft picks he may end up whiffing on is rather easy, especially if they are able to acquire someone like Pickens, the hyper-athletic receiver from the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys have made, what feels like, a thousand trades over the past year. It's clear that the front offices loves the drama, and if a rich enough offer comes in, would the Cowboys actually say no? The Cowboys currently have negative cap space for 2027 and do have some notable names set to be free agents this offseason.
There just isn't a financial path for guys like Joey Porter Jr and Pickens to both receive long-term deals, for example. And given how poor the Cowboys defense has been, that unit may require more NFL Draft investment. The Cowboys should simply admit defeat on the Pickens' experiment and send him to a WR-needy team.
The Chiefs don't currently have a receiver who can consistently separate down the field, or much at all. Pickens is every bit of a No. 1 receiver, and his potential insertion into the offense would finally give Patrick Mahomes as complete a unit personnel-wise as he has seen in years.
