9. Carolina Panthers: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas
The Carolina Panthers are another team in this 2027 NFL mock draft scenario benefitting from the loaded class of QBs and WRs in this draft. Colin Simmons is a truly elite weapon off the edge.
He is coming off a season in which he racked up 12 sacks for the longhorns, 15.5 tackles for loss, and his second-straight season with 3 forced fumbles. He will be competing all year long with Dylan Stewart to be the highest-ranked edge rusher in the 2027 NFL Draft class.
The Panthers signed Jaelan Phillips this offseason to boost their pass rush, but even with that big move, they wouldn't be able to pass on a defensive weapon like this.
10. Pittsburgh Steelers: Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
We'll see how this season goes for the wide receiver corps of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The early returns on Germie Bernard in the preseason were encouraging, and Roman Wilson looks like he might have finally taken a step forward in his game.
Even though they just acquired them over the last couple of years, the Steelers have "outs" in the contracts of both DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. after this season, though getting out of Metcalf's would be more painful.
Charlie Becker is a major breakout candidate at Indiana this year with his combination of size, speed, and big-play capabilities. Could he be catching passes from Drew Allar in the future?
11. Washington Commanders: Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
I hate to say it, but you almost approach the Commanders in a mock draft scenario like this with the mindset of, "Just take the best defensive player on the board..."
The Commanders' defense was abysmal last season, ranking dead last in total yards allowed. They began the reloading process on that side of the ball this offseason, but the secondary still needs to be addressed going forward.
Some of Washington's top outside cornerback options right now are Rasul Douglas and Fabian Moreau. A player like Ellis Robinson IV would be an absolute gift to this team.
12. New York Giants: Will Echoles, DL, Ole Miss
This upcoming draft class has a chance to be really special on the interior defensive line, at least at the top of the class.
Will Echoles is one of the youngest players in the crop (just recently turned 20), but he has some of the best combination of size, power, and quickness off the ball. No defensive tackle in the Power Four conferences had more pressures last year than Will Echoles.
The Giants traded Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals for the 10th overall pick last year, so they will need to get some talented young guys on the interior.
