Aaron Rodgers, free agency

There seemed to be interest from Aaron Rodgers in signing with the Minnesota Vikings this past offseason, but it did not work out. We may never know the true reason why Rodgers didn't sign with the team. Perhaps Minnesota didn't have enough interest? Perhaps they did, but were shot down by someone high up in the organization?

Well, all indications point to the four-time MVP retiring at the end of the season, but would he reconsider if the Vikings offered him a one-year deal? On paper, the Vikings would be one of the more talented offenses that Rodgers has ever played in, as the offensive line is strong, and the weapons are there.

This team is also just one year removed from winning 14 games, so it's not like they are unfamiliar with winning. Kevin O'Connell is not a perfect head coach, but he's quite the offensive mind and could surely field a top-10 unit with Rodgers for a year.

Aaron Rodgers signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the returns in Pittsburgh have been just OK thus far. The Steelers are just 6-5 on the season after a strong 4-1 start, but it's clear that they would not be a threat in the playoffs.

Rodgers would obviously be a one-year solution, but pairing him with a QB in the 2026 NFL Draft might actually be a legitimate QB room for the Vikings to work with. It's clear that the veteran QB is still a functional starter, and you'd have to think that he could still have another year left in the tank.

But, at the end of the day, the Vikings making a push to sign Aaron Rodgers in 2026 would indicate that things really went off the rails. Unless Rodgers explicitly retires at the end of the season, there is a non-zero chance that he could sign with the Minnesota Vikings in free agency to get this team back on track.
