Washington Commanders (vs. Seattle Seahawks)
The Washington Commanders are again down their starting quarterback, as Jayden Daniels again dislocated his left elbow. This is a major, major issue for the QB and the franchise, as Daniels only played in seven games last year due to multiple injuries, and he's now set to miss some time this year.
With Daniels being eligible for a contract extension following the season, his now having to miss more time is the worst-case scenario. His lean frame does seem to make him more vulnerable to injury, and for the Commanders, they now have to turn to Marcus Mariota as the starter for the second season in a row.
And even with Daniels, the roster and team overall just isn't threatening, as they're 0-2 for a reason, and, like the Steelers, don't do much of anything well. On the flip side, the juggernaut Seattle Seahawks really have not skipped a beat, as backup QB Drew Lock has played extremely well filling in for Sam Darnold.
The Seahawks definitely want to get Darnold back in the mix, but with how well Lock is playing, I don't think they want to rush him back. From top to bottom, even in a battle of backup QBs, Seattle is significantly more talented.
With the Commanders, we're approaching a point where an in-season coaching change might have to be made, as there hasn't been any progress made after that breakout 2024 season. An 0-3 start is likely for Washington with how talentless the team is and them being without Daniels.
New England Patriots (@ Jacksonville Jaguars)
New England hasn't been great through two weeks. Despite beating Pittsburgh in Week 2, the offense looks dysfunctional at best. They're in Florida in Week 3 to play the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that has now gone 9-1 over their last 10 regular season games dating back to the 2025 season.
The Jaguars are simply a better team right now. The offense is in a much better spot, Trevor Lawrence has been riding a hot-streak for a while, and the defense, while missing key pass-rush talent, is stingy against the run.
Jacksonville won 13 games last year for a reason, as this coaching staff might legitimately be a top-5 unit in the league, and while the Patriots boast more overall roster talent, the Jaguars have the upper hand with recent trends and should be able to seal the deal here.
The Patriots falling to 1-2 on the season is likely after Week 3 is over.
