Division Leaders

4. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)

Sitting at a solid 4-2, the Jacksonville Jaguars might end up cruising to their second division title in as many years. With the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans being two of the most irrelevant teams in sports right now, and the Houston Texans having regressed big-time, the Jaguars might not need more than 10 wins to capture the South this year.

The main thing with the Jags has been how consistently excellent Trevor Lawrence has been since those final six weeks of the 2025 season. He ended up being an official MVP candidate last year, and he seems to be well on his way to another MVP-caliber season this year.

As I have said many times before on this site, the main thing I am concerned with is the overall lack of roster talent - it's fine, but it's nothing special. With this regime still only being in year two, it's going to take another year or two before we truly see this team blossom.

The coaching is doing a lot of the heavy lifting, but it's still worth taking the Jags seriously in the AFC.

3. Cleveland Browns (5-2)

The Cleveland Browns are one of the more fun teams in the NFL, right now, The Browns are flawed, though, and while QB Deshaun Watson has mostly played well this year, he's taking far too many sacks, and the offense is really nothing special overall.

If nothing else, the progress the Browns have made in just seven games under Todd Monkey is fantastic. Monken is clearly cut out to be a head coach in this league, and even if the Browns have a different QB in 2027 and beyond, the progress made this year has to have everyone in that building feeling optimistic that Monken and his staff can eventually develop a young passer.

For now, the Browns are the No. 3 seed in the AFC and would host a playoff game.
