Jacksonville Jaguars - Borderline
The Jacksonville Jaguars won 13 games and the AFC South in the 2025 season, surprising many across the league. With that said, the Jags lost running back Travis Etienne and linebacker Devin Lloyd in free agency.
With the defense now missing their best player from a year ago, and the offense not having a slam-dunk solution at running back, coupled with this team's shaky offensive line and good-not-great roster, the Jaguars are in a borderline position.
Yes, they're good, but a duplicate season in 2026 just does not feel likely. This current regime is still in year two and wasn't going to field a Super Bowl contender this early on. It's going to take another year for this front office to shore up the weaker spots, but perhaps at this point in 2027, we'll be ready to call this team a contender.
Houston Texans - Loaded
Arguably the best roster in the NFL, the Houston Texans could play football in February if QB CJ Stroud ends up playing like he did as a rookie in 2023. Stroud has been rather average since his breakout season in year one, and it's caused the Texans to top-out as appearing in the Divisional Round.
They've made the Divisional Round each year of the Stroud era, but that can't continue being the goal. Fortunately, this roster doesn't have a clear weakness, as the front office shored up the offensive line this offseason and found a way to add more talent on defense, so this team is loaded and ready to roll.
Indianapolis Colts - Irrelevant
The Indianapolis Colts went 8-9 in the 2025 season after a wicked hot 7-1 start. Indy simply collapsed down the stretch and are still dealing with some injuries. Daniel Jones is coming off a torn Achilles, and wide receiver Alec Pierce is just now returning to practice.
Sure, the Colts started 7-1 for a reason, but they were bad for half a season, and with how stacked the AFC is, the Colts don't appear to be a relevant team.
Tennessee Titans - Hopeful
The Tennessee Titans are hopeful that a new regime and an improved defense can bring this franchise out of the ditch, and this also includes being hopeful that QB Cam Ward can take a year two leap. There is a lot of hope with this team, which isn't a bad thing, but hope also doesn't win in the NFL.
