New England Patriots - Regression
The New England Patriots had an insanely easy schedule in 2025, and that certainly helped them win 14 games and the AFC East title. While some fans may roll their eyes at me mentioning the easy schedule, I don't see why it's not a valid talking point.
The Patriots schedule does get considerably harder this year, and with how tough it is to win that many games in this league, a regression from the 14-3 season feels likely. With that said, a regression could still mean that the Pats win 11 games and slide into a Wild Card spot, but the massive increase in opponent difficulty will one way or another contribute to the team not winning 14 games for the second year in a row.
Buffalo Bills - New
The Buffalo Bills have a new head coach and new weapon on offense, as the team promoted Joe Brady to the head coach spot and also traded for DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears. These offensive-focused changes could finally be what the Bills were missing from getting over the hump and making the Super Bowl. After years of falling short, which has included nearly 10 total playoff wins in the Josh Allen era, the Bills needed to try something new this year.
Miami Dolphins - Talentless
The Miami Dolphins truly might have the worst roster in the NFL right now. There are few, if any foundational building blocks on this team. De'Von Achane is excellent, but I do wonder just how much of a building block a running back can be.
The Dolphins clearly aren't trying to win many games this year and are entering a very lengthy rebuilding process. That is fine, though, as undergoing a full rebuild is how it's done in the NFL, and if this past offseason tells us anything, Miami does not plan to cut any corners.
New York Jets - 2027
With no franchise QB on the roster right now and a trio of picks in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft, next year is where the New York Jets are looking right now, as their starting QB is Geno Smith, someone who has thrown 32 interceptions over the past two seasons and is now on his third team in as many years.
The Jets can likely end up with a first-round QB next year, and at that point, we could really begin to take this team seriously.
