Chicago Bears - Exciting
The Chicago Bears are an exciting team suddenly. Not many people expected the 2024 season to be as bad as it was, but landing Ben Johnson as the head coach was an outstanding hire by the decision-makers. And in just one season, the Bears sported a top-10 scoring offense and saw QB Caleb Williams take a lot of solid strides. Sure, the completion percentage dipped below 60 percent, but Williams was more efficient in just about every other QB category.
The Bears could repeat as NFC North champions, and if that happens, it'd be because the offense foud another gear, Williams became more accurate, and the young players, who were excellent last year, took strides in year two.
Green Bay Packers - Good
Not a great team, but a good team. I have said for a while that the Green Bay Packers are one of the most 'good, not great' teams in the NFL, and this has been a yearly thing. Yes, the Packers have some key talent on both sides of the ball, but there are also major flaws that prevent this team from being great. The offensive line is average, at best, and the pass rush is virtually non-existent outside of Micah Parsons.
Until the Packers actually fill this roster up with more high-end talent like other Super Bowl teams have, they won't ascend into that unquestioned top tier of teams in this league.
Minnesota Vikings - Whiffed
The Minnesota Vikings could not have whiffed more on JJ McCarthy if they tried, and their newest solution is Kyler Murray, but Murray is only here because McCarthy has been an unplayable QB who also struggles to stay healthy.
It's an unfortunate situation all around, but this offseason was supposed to be the one where McCarthy finally shut the door on any questions, but it didn't happen.
Detroit Lions - Defense
The Detroit Lions defense has been that team's undoing in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and it's going to continue to be talked about unit they can figure out something sustainable. With how electric the offense is and can be, you simply aren't asking this unit to be anything more than average, but that's been a tough ask.
The Lions were 7-4 at one point in 2025 but collapsed down the stretch and managed to finish last in the NFC North. The defense was primarily to blame.
