Detroit Lions @ Los Angeles Rams
Wouldn't this be a fun matchup? The obvious connection here is that back in 2021, the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams swung a major deal that essentially saw them swap quarterbacks, with the Lions getting draft picks as well. The Rams won the Super Bowl in year one of the Matthew Stafford era, proving that swapping passers was the right move.
As for the Lions, they've won two division titles since that trade, winning 27 regular season games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. They've also finished with a winning record four years in a row. The Rams being able to get to the NFC title game feels likely - this team added notable talent this offseason, obviously adding Myles Garrett to an already very good defense.
The Rams also had the best scoring offense in the NFL last year, so this is truly the most complete team in football right now. While the pressure could only make things more difficult to get to the title game, it's also something that should happen, as LA is simply better than any other team the league right now.
The Lions are an interesting squad - they've struggled with health on the defensive side of the ball the past two seasons, and at some point, those injuries have to regress to the mean. Sure, that doesn't necessarily have to happen, but the Lions weren't really an injury-prone team until things started falling apart back in 2024.
Detroit also made the NFC title game back in 2023, so they've done this before, and I'm simply higher on this team in 2026 than others might be. This coaching staff knows how to win, and they'll be able to sift through this defensive uncertainty. With that being said, the Rams may present too intense an opponent.
Give me the Rams over the Lions in the NFC title game.
