High-upside plays at tight end
1. Dalton Schultz
We have a real Dalton Schultz dependency issue here on high-upside fantasy football plays these days, but, as the saying goes, “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it,” and that seems like a perfect philosophy for the Houston Texans tight end. Not many offenses in the NFL can claim that their tight end is a legitimate top option in the offense, but that is an apt description for the veteran pass catcher in the early going of the 2026 campaign. Granted, his status is being helped by the injury to Nico Collins, but Schultz has been a gold mine for fantasy points at the position thus far.
Additionally, his matchup is not too shabby this week, as touched on with David Montgomery, the Indianapolis Colts are not the best at the whole defense thing so far this season. Considering that defense made Travis Kelce look like he was 26 instead of 36 years old, Schultz could be in for another massive game against this swiss cheese defense. That is not even mentioning that quarterback C.J. Stroud has looked amazing through two games this year (although that has yet to result in wins for Houston), all of which leads to Schultz being a high-upside fantasy football play at tight end for a third consecutive week.
2. Terrance Ferguson
The Denver Broncos defense is not a unit to take lightly at all, but the Los Angeles Rams may have figured something out with its pass catchers, with Puka Nacua not showing up at practice over the last couple of weeks. On Monday Night Football, there was a healthy dosage of the tight end position to help fill in the gaps on offense. Given the result of that game, it is hard to argue with the philosophy, making one of the contributors in that room in Los Angeles a fair play for this weekend, assuming Nacua continues to miss time.
With that in mind, Terrance Ferguson, the second-year tight end, was the player who stepped up in a big way in Week 2. He went for six catches, 54 receiving yards and brought in a touchdown for good measure. Again, the Broncos defense is not to be taken as lightly as one may take the unit of the New York Giants, but Ferguson was the guy who stepped up, making him a high-upside fantasy football play this week, given the circumstances facing the Rams on Sunday Night Football.
