6. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson lands at No. 6 in our MVP power rankings as Week 5 approaches. As long as he is healthy and on the field, Jackson is almost always going to be in the MVP race. He's a two-time MVP winner, and in the eyes of some, should have won the award for a third time in 2024.
Like other names on this list, the argument for Jackson being an MVP winner is rather easy - he's a generational player at the position, a future Hall of Famer, and is the best rushing QB of all-time. He is nursing an ankle injury and might not play in Week 5, but even missing one or two games really should not impact a potential MVP case.
He's become one of the best passers in the league and continues to be an elite threat with his legs. He has his Baltimore Ravens team at 3-1 as well, so the winning is also coming.
5. Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen is in a similar boat as Jackson is. Allen won the MVP award in 2024, perhaps controversially, as Jackson was the more productive player and was actually better than his 2023 MVP campaign. Anyway, Allen and the Buffalo Bills continue to be a juggernaut, and it's not a secret that Allen is a top-3 player at the position.
He, like Jackson, is an all-time great running QB who can completely takeover a game at times. The one thing that can sometimes go against Allen is when he gets erratic and has those really bad games. He'll do that a few times a year, but the highs are absolutely worth it.
With how shaky the Bills defense has been this year, more could fall on Allen's shoulders, and that could honestly help his MVP case if he doesn't become careless with the football.
