8. Buffalo Bills, 4-1
The Buffalo Bills have allowed at least 26 points in four of five games this year. They own the 28th-ranked scoring defense in the NFL and have the 5th-most penalties in the NFL thus far. Folks, this football team is flawed, and if Josh Allen wasn't playing like he is, they might not have two wins.
Buffalo needs to figure something out on defense soon, and the penalties prove that this team just isn't that well-coached. The Bills went in a vastly different direction with their head coach, which was not a bad idea, as Sean McDermott was let go in favor of Joe Brady.
Embracing a younger, offensive-minded head coach is not a bad idea, as it's a lot different than who they had in McDermott, and the years of playoff heartbreaks meant something had to change, but the early returns from parts of the Brady era are not good.
Make no mistake - this is a good football team, but this defense and undisciplined football will derail their season if it does not get figured out.
7. Chicago Bears, 3-2
The Chicago Bears come in at No. 7 in our power rankings. Caleb Williams is nearing his return, and the Bears being 3-2 through five feels about right. The defense has really kicked things up a notch this year, too.
The defense has allowed 3, 7, 12, and 7 points over the past four games, but a brutal blowout loss to the Packers really put a sour taste in their mouth. If Williams was in for that game, it certainly would not have been that bad if a loss.
Anyway, Chicago is one of the more fun teams in the NFL when Williams is in the lineup, and the defense coming into their own would have them turning into one o the more complete teams in football, but they also have not played the toughest schedule thus far.
Chicago is a good team on the cusp of being great, so they come in at No. 7 in our power rankings.
