2. Kansas City Chiefs, 4-0
The Kansas City Chiefs are 4-0 on the season, and you could argue that Kenneth Walker III is the MVP of the league. He has totally transformed things for the Chiefs. It's also interesting that the Chiefs front office felt like they needed to go out and get Patrick Mahomes a more stable running game.
While the passing attack isn't the down-the-field laser show we saw earlier in Mahomes' career, Walker being this efficient is something that can help the Chiefs do what we have seen them do for years - make deep playoff runs.
The main things I believe we should be concerned about is Walker's insane usage and the overall personnel situation on offense. The Chiefs don't really have anyone of note at wide receiver, and Walker has never had a 'bell cow' type of workload before.
I am not sure it'd be a bad idea to lessen his touches as the season goes on and save his legs for the playoffs, but for now, it's working.
1. San Francisco 49ers, 5-0
The best team in football right now is the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers may actually have the MVP of the league at the moment, as Brock Purdy is playing out of his mind, and what is most impressive with what the 49ers are doing is what they are doing with so many injuries.
It does feel like a yearly occurence at this point, but the Niners have simply been flat-out dominant this year on both sides of the ball. They already have key divisional wins against Los Angeles and Seattle, and they're also well ahead of both teams in the NFC West standings.
I am not sure what this team can't do right now, and it's not a shock we have them ranked No. 1.
