8. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens (Last Week: 4)
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens blew a lead to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, but I am not sure that changes the long-term outlook of this team. Jackson has always been among the most productive players in the NFL at the position and has been a two-time MVP already.
Depending on who you ask, Jackson should have won the MVP for a third time in the 2024 season. With the Ravens, the 'thing' about this team is obvious - as long as they aren't dealing with a ton of injuries, they'll be just fine and win a ton of games.
Jackson, along with a plethora of other playrs, were banged up last year, which derailed the season. If they stay healthy, he'll be in the race this year, and the Ravens will be at or near the very top of the AFC.
7. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars (Last Week: 3)
Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars got Denver Broncos'd in Week 2 - Denver put up 17 second half points, and 14 in the fourth quarter to win the game. It snapped a nine-game winning streak by the Jaguars, and during that time, Lawrence was playing his tail off.
He actually ended the 2025 season as an MVP candidate, so the league clearly took notice of his second-half surge. Let's do a short exercise for a second. Over the last 10 games dating back to the 2025 regular season, Lawrence and the Jaguars are 9-1.
If we take Lawrence's stats during that 10-game stretch and average it over a 17-game season, this is what he'd be on pace for:
4,153 yards
39 touchdowns
10 interceptions
106.9 passer rating
333 rushing yards
9 rushing touchdowns
This would be every bit of an MVP season. The arrow is pointing up for this QB and franchise and Lawrence is firmly in this race through two weeks.
