4. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (Last Week: 6)
Brock Purdy is a player, folks. The San Francisco 49ers are off to a 2-0 start thanks to two blowouts. Purdy has been playing awesome football thus far, and it's funny, as I don't really see or hear many people talking about this team.
The 49ers simply know how to win, and Purdy has been an efficient QB his entire career, so I guess this is just business as usual for the franchise. He finished 4th in the MVP voting back in the 2023 season and now owns a 32-15 record as a starter, which averages out to a 12-5 record across a full 17-game season.
He currently leads QBs in completion percantage and success rate, and while the 49ers struggle to stay healthy and may end up cooling off a bit in the coming weeks, Purdy is 100 percent in the MVP race right now, and he has been firmly in this race before for an entire season.
He takes the No. 4 spot in our power rankings.
3. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs (Last Week: 8)
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0 to begin the season. They did need overtime to defeat the Indianapolis Colts, but the Chiefs seem to be right back in the spotlight. It doesn't feel like people necessarily care that much how Mahomes has gotten his production this far, as a majority of his passing yards have been after the catch, and the offense has obviously run through Walker thus far.
The Chiefs schedule does get a lot tougher as the season goes on, but Mahomes is a generational player and a future Hall of Famer. He also seems to be fully back from his knee injury, so while the Chiefs don't have great personnel on offense, this could be a situation where 'Mahomes and the Chiefs just find a way,' which has been a mantra attached to this team for years now.
